Iconic Opener Returns After Over a Decade
The concert opened with “Welcome to the Jungle” — the first time they’ve used it to start a show since 2012. This also marked the first time Slash and Duff McKagan opened with the song since their reunion in 2016. The rest of the set stayed true to the band’s usual reunion-era performances.
New Drummer Joins the Lineup
The show also introduced Isaac Carpenter as the band’s new drummer. He replaced Frank Ferrer, who left the group earlier this year. Guns N’ Roses didn’t explain the change publicly.
Ferrer addressed fans in March, saying:
“The outpouring of love I’ve received from Guns N’ Roses fans and fellow musicians has been incredible. I will always feel grateful for Axl and the band, even though I’m sad this chapter is over.”
Carpenter, 45, has been a lifelong fan of the band. In high school, he played in a tribute band called 22s and Tulips. Later, he joined Duff McKagan’s side project Loaded, which helped prepare him for this opportunity. Carpenter now becomes the sixth drummer in the group’s history, following Adler, Sorum, Freese, Mantia, and Ferrer.
Tour Dates and Special Guests
The tour continues on May 5 in Yokohama, Japan, at the K Arena. If no more shows are added, it will wrap up on July 31 at Wacken Open Air in Germany.
Special guests on the tour include:
- Public Enemy
- Rival Sons
- The Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter
This lineup brings a strong mix of rock, punk, and hip-hop energy to the stage.
No New Album Yet
The band has released several singles in recent years, such as Absurd, Hard Skull, Perhaps, and The General. However, these songs were originally recorded during the Chinese Democracy sessions nearly 20 years ago.
Although fans hope for new material, Guns N’ Roses hasn’t released anything written since Slash and McKagan rejoined. Rumors about a new album continue, but there’s still no official confirmation.
