The Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup champions once again. Led by a historic four-goal performance from Sam Reinhart, the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 at Amerant Bank Arena on Tuesday night, sealing the series 4-2 and capturing their second consecutive NHL title.

Panthers Claim Second Straight Stanley Cup Title

Florida wasted no time asserting their dominance in Game 6. Just five minutes into the game, Sam Reinhart capitalized on a turnover and scored an impressive off-balance goal, setting the tone for the night.

With less than a minute remaining in the first period, Matthew Tkachuk found open ice and doubled the lead, giving the Panthers a comfortable 2-0 cushion heading into the first intermission.

Reinhart’s Four-Goal Night Breaks Records

As tensions rose in the second period, Aleksander Barkov set up Reinhart’s second goal—this time by deflecting the puck off Reinhart’s skate and into the net. The Panthers entered the third period up 3-0, with the home crowd sensing a championship in sight.

Then, Reinhart delivered once more. First, he scored an empty-net goal to complete the first-ever postseason hat trick in Panthers franchise history. Just minutes later, he added a fourth goal, becoming only the sixth player in NHL history to score four goals in a Stanley Cup Final game and the first since 1957 to achieve the feat in a Game 6.

Canada’s Cup Drought Continues

Vasily Podkolzin finally broke through for the Oilers with a late goal in the third period, but by then, the damage was already done. Florida maintained control until the final horn, sending their fans into celebration mode as they lifted the Stanley Cup once again.

The loss also extended Canada’s championship drought, as no Canadian team has hoisted the Cup since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993—a 32-year wait that continues.

Sam Bennett Named Conn Smythe Trophy Winner

Although Reinhart stole the show in Game 6, it was Sam Bennett who took home the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. The Panthers forward notched 15 goals in the postseason, including five during the Stanley Cup Final. His relentless two-way play proved crucial in Florida’s repeat championship run.

“This team just finds a way,” Bennett said postgame. “We believe in each other. This is what we worked for all year.”

Panthers Join Elite Company in NHL History

With this win, the Panthers became the first team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021. They also became just the fourth franchise to beat the same opponent in consecutive Finals.

Meanwhile, the Oilers—despite a strong playoff run—fell short again. This was their third Stanley Cup Final appearance in the last 20 years, but they haven’t lifted the Cup since the 1989-90 season.
